AVES LIGHTHOUSE

Aves is an island belongs to the North and Middle Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This island locate 140 km north from Port Blair town. Aves Island is about 20 minutes ride away by Dinghy from Maya Bunder jetty, The Island lies 3.5 km east of Mayabunder. The island is small, having an area of 0.2 km2 (0.077 sq mi). The unmanned lighthouse was commissioned in 2008. 15 meter Composite Masonry Tower Painted red and White bands color scheme and has an LED flasher light powered by battery and solar panel. Accessibility to this lighthouse is only by sea route, commute by departmental vessel or any chartered vessel upto anchorage Point then use mechanised dinghy upto shore and then walk of about 20 minutes through forest. Travel from Port Blair upto Mayabunder village by road and from this village by mechanized boat upto shore and then walk of about 20 minutes through forest.
