South Button Lighthouse
Button Islands are a group of islands of the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian Union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the island is located 74.0 km north to Port Blair town. The south button lighthouse provides visual AtoN service to the marine traffic on the PortBlair Kolkata voyage route. The lighthouse is located on the tallest hill 36 meters (118 ft) on south Button Island, the unmanned lighthouse was commissioned in 1983. 14-meter GI trestle Tower Painted Red and White bands color scheme and has an LED flasher light powered by battery and solar panel. Accessibility to this lighthouse is only by sea route, commute by departmental vessel or any chartered vessel up to anchorage Point then use a mechanized dinghy up to shore then by walk to reach the lighthouse.
