KATCHAL EAST LIGHTHOUSE
Katchal is an important island of Nancowry group of island. The island has two lighthouses one on the east and the other on the west side.The Katchal east lighthouse was masonary tower of 12 meters high which was constructed in 1986 got collapsed during tsunami 2004, thereafter 24 meter high GI trestle tower is established at the eastern coast of Katchal Island. This Lighthouse station also has NAIS , PSS and servers mainly the fisherman fraternity and inter-island vessels for ensuring safe navigation in Indian waters. The Katchal Island is approachable by DSS vessel/department vessel and interisland helicopter services from Port Blair. Passenger vessel service between Port Blair and Campbell bay regularly visit Katchal (East).. The lighthouse station is located about 5 km from Katchal Jetty out of which 3.5 Km motorable road and 1.5 km dense forest
