The Cape Connaught Lighthouse is a 12-meter tall Square Masonry Tower.The Lighthouse has been built on the southern tip of Nancowry Island in Nancowry group of Islands located about 10 km east of katchal island . The lighthouse was commissioned in the year 1993 to mark the entry channel to katchal & Kamorta island. It can also be approached from Champin Village (opposite Kamorta Island) by walk through the thick forest. Nancowry island is inhabited by local Nicobarese in Champin village on the northern tip of island opposite Kamorta island. The two islands are separated by a navigable channel.. The Cape Connaught lighthouse can be approached via Sea from Port Blair through Departmental vessel or any chartered vessel upto anchorage Point and from anchorage point by dinghy upto shore. The lighthouse is approachable by trekking through a dense forest and hilly terrain for a distance of about 1.5 km.
