BAMPOKA LIGHTHOUSE
The Bampoka Lighthouse is a 12-meter GI trestle tower established on 1991. Bompoka island lies about 200 NM from Port Blair and 2.5 km east from southern end of nearby Teressa Island in the Nancowry group of islands. It is one of the remotest unhabitant/vey few tribes in Island .The hills on the island rise upto 193 m. The island has dense forest and some portions have grass growth. There is thick coconut palm growth on shores all round the island. The portion of sea between the Teressa and Bompoka islands provides a good shelter for the ships. The landing is on South–West Point of the island ,From the landing point the Lighthouse is about 8km through forest and hilly track. The Bampoka lighthouse can be approached via Sea from Port Blair through Departmental vessel or any chartered vessel upto anchorage Point and from anchorage point by dinghy upto shore.
