Navinal Lighthouse And Vts Station
Navinal Point is made up of a few ridges of sand and a large swamp partly covered with the mangroves which forms the background of Navinal Point. North East ward from Navinal Point is Mundra Creek on which Mundra New Port exists. The Navinal Point Lighthouse was then shifted due to development of Adani Port towards south-west. Earlier Navinal Point Lighthouse was approachable by boat from Mundra new Port through the Creek. Thereafter a land route to Navinal point Lighthouse through Gujarat Adani Port area is available since 1997.
A Lighted beacon existed at the Navinal Point since 1892. It was a wick lamp placed on a column to assist boats ferrying between ports of Mundra, Tuna, Rozi and Okha. An Improved flashing light was installed in the same lantern in 1949. The Lighthouse tower and a Baffle wall for fog signal were constructed in 1965. The Lighthouse and fog signal electrically operated equipment’s supplied by M/s B.B.T., Paris, were installed with diesel generator set at the station. The Lighthouse was commissioned into service in June 1965. The fog signal service was withdrawn in 1987.
The emergency light source working on DA gas was replaced by 60W 12V Halogen lamp in June 1993. The direct drive system was integrated with the optic assembly in June 1997. The light was temporarily been shifted to Adani port control tower in April 2003. Then after 60 m high Radar RCC tower for VTS for the Gulf of Kutch was constructed at new location and light is re-installed on new tower since January 2020.
